The Daily Journey: Being Prosperous and Successful
Every one that I’ve ever met has wanted to be prosperous and successful. OK, most everyone. In the later part of college God started dealing with me about being taking seriously this life with him that he had given me. One of the first verses that he showed me and I started concentrating on is found in Joshua 1:8 & 9. There God is speaking to Joshua Moses aid who took over leading the children of Israel into there new homeland in Canaan. It had to be a very overwhelming position leading 1.2 million men not including women and children into hostile enemy territory. At the very start of this God speaks to Joshua in chapter 1 verses 8 and 9:
“Do not let this book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”
I also was somewhat overwhelmed leaving college and facing the rest of life without the structure of school being called into ministry to lead God’s people and not knowing really what to do after 4 years of Bible college. These verses has stayed with me because inevitably God is going to call each of us out to do something that we have never done before and He will ask us to trust Him. We must be settled in God’s word and his promises to us like this one: That we WILL be successful if we seek his word out, concentrating on it, allowing it to penetrate our hearts and minds. Or that he will never leave no matter where we find ourselves. That is why he commands us not to be afraid or discouraged. These are a couple of things that we all will face in this life. However, as we start to learn his ways and his promises to us in his word it gives us the power to step out and do things we never thought we could do. Don’t let fear paralyze you, but trust Him and step out into whatever he is leading you in. If you are guided by his written word in the Bible and His spoke word in your heart you can plan on being prosperous and successful.

Wow! What a powerful scripture! It really lays it out there in clear and really basic way. It’s funny I’m sure I’ve read that scripture and heard it quoted before but it never really stood out to me.
