The Daily Journey: Meditate
Yesterday I was sharing Joshua 1:8,9 where God gives us a great promise that if we will not let the book of the law depart from our mouths but meditate in it day and night so that we will be care to do everything in it; then our way will be prosperous and successful. This started a habit for me that I continue to this day. As i read the Bible not all of it speaks to me like other portions do. I am in no way saying that some parts are more important than others, but that I am not ready for some parts now. I believe God speaks through His written word today. For me it happens like this. I will pray about where God would have me to read and in my heart I will usually feel impressed to read a certain book or passage. As I am reading I will be thinking things like huh - thats interesting or why am I reading this. As I keep reading though there will be one verse or part of a verse that grips me in my spirit. Even though I may keep on reading I still have to go back to it. This is where God starts to speak to me inwardly showing me something about himself and my relationship to Him. It could be something I should do or not do to a promise that I can hold to get me through what I’m in the middle of.
Just yesterday I shared the Joshua passage and I was reading the verses before and after it and this happened. I woke up and found myself rehearsing the verse through my mind. It was Joshua 1:5. God spoke to Joshua saying just as I was with Moses so I will be with you. I will never fail you or forsake you. I need that verse and its promise to me. My schedule is hectic, there is so much uncertainty with the economy and rising energy prices it makes you fearful of tomorrow. But I have a promise for myself, my business, and my children’s future that HE will never Fail me or Forsake (leave) me. I know that just like he showed up in Moses’ life and Joshua’s life and every other person of God’s life before and after them he will do the same for me and you. I you will commit yourself to truly trust Him. Thats how this relationship with God’s word works for me. I do Not go to his word looking to back up my favorite teachings as opposed to some one else’s that is called religion. I am speaking about relationship. Fill your heart and mind with God’s word. Let it soak in. By doing this you will give the Holy Spirit something to use in your daily journey with Him.
