The Daily Journey: More on Faith
In the last post I started talking about faith and its importance in our relationship with God.
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1
Faith is a vital element in a relationship with God because you can’t see or touch him physically. In the Gospel of Mark this is portrayed very clearly in Jesus’ life. Jesus visits his home town of Nazareth in Mark 6. He visits the synagogue on the Sabbath day and started teaching. As he was teaching the people were offended by him because they thought they knew Him. Many of them had remembered when Joseph and Mary had arrived in town. They had seen the boy grow up, take on his father’s occupation as a carpenter. But then he started teaching and performing miracles and claimed to be God’s Son and they thought he was ridiculous. How could he even say such things. They knew the gossip about him also - that Mary was pregnant BEFORE the marriage. Joseph was such a good man to stay with her they thought. Then Mark says in verses 5&6:
“He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. And he was amazed at their lack of faith.”
They never gave Jesus even one chance or reconsider and say maybe we’ve been wrong about this guy. Maybe we should go to his mother and ask her somethings about him and clarify all this mess we’ve heard about him. Nothing other than they were offended. The interesting thing is that Jesus’ ability to work miracles among them was hindered because of their lack of faith. God is attracted to our faith. I am not saying that we control God. I believe most of the time he chooses not to move until he sees genuine faith in a person’s life. He is please and moved by faith because faith and trust is the basis of any relationship. Faith in Jesus Christ unlocks an ongoing relationship with God allows Jesus to work the power of God through you. Faith allows us to draw near to God and touch his heart. Faith empowers prayer and shields you from the enemy’s attacks (Ephesians 6:16). Trust Jesus with all your life. Your business, your relationships, your children, your worries and stress, everything you face because it unlocks God’s activity in your life. Pray and keep on praying because God truly cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). God will move and hear your pray as you believe and seek him in prayer.
Nice one! I like it too.
